    • The Netherlands, which was changed from Holland
    • Macedonia, which changed its name to North Macedonia due to political disputes with Greece
    • Iran, which changed its name from Persia in 1935

    • Rhodesia which changed to Zimbabwe to drop its colonial legacy.
