  • The Prime Minister has paid tributes to brave Puli Thevar on his birth anniversary.

About Puli Thevar

  • He was one of the earliest opponents of British rule in South India. He was involved in a vendetta with the Nawab of Arcot who was supported by the British.
  • Puli Thevar, is considered the first south Indian to rebel against British rule
    • He fought between the 1750s and late 1760s.
