SAKSHAM and Seaweed Mission

In News: Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) has launched two new technology initiatives: SAKSHAM (Shramik Shakti Manch) and Seaweed Mission.

About SAKSHAM (Shramik Shakti Manch):

  • In response to the reverse migration of laborers, it was created by TIFAC under the Dept of Science and Technology.
  • It will dynamically map the skills of Shramiks and help MSMEs in the recruitment of appropriate personnel.
  • Aim:
    • Create 10 lakh blue-collar jobs.
    • Minimize future migration by providing local employment.
  • It utilizes Artificial Intelligence tools along with geospatial information to optimize demand and supply in employment.
  • It can also help in assessing the efficiency of Shramiks Skill Training Programmes.

About Seaweed Mission:

About Seaweed Cultivation

  • It is the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of seaweeds also known as macroalgae.
  • Also known as Kelp Farming.
  • The seaweed colonies or Kelp forests are a lively ecosystem housing many fishes and other marine species like planktonic algae which produce nearly 90% of Earth’s Oxygen.
